BGC AK History

Incorporated in November of 1966 in Anchorage, Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska began as the “Boys Club of Alaska”

The organization received it’s first non-profit designation and the very first programs included Babe Ruth Baseball,  intramural basketball at Denali Elementary and Clark Middle School, and an after-school program at Northstar Elementary.











1974, The Girls Club joins the fun!

The program begins by offering sports

programs for girls in the Anchorage




The 1970’s also saw the expansion of the organization with it’s

first stand-alone Clubhouse opening in the Spenard community.


The Boys Club Sports programs grew to include Football, Hockey,

and Soccer.
