Boys & Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska 2023-24 Arts Contest: The Joy in Our Stories
Overview
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska seeks to provide innovative and high-quality arts programming for all youth that stimulates learning and academic success, inspires creativity, explores future careers, and engages in self-expression, critical thinking and problem-solving.
The 2024 theme, The Joy in Our Stories, celebrates the power of positive stories to uplift and inspire joy through a diverse range of artistic expressions. Youth are encouraged to submit artwork that creatively expresses joy for judging in our statewide competition in one of the following contest categories:
• APPLIED ARTS (Jewelry Making, Fashion Design, Wood Working, Furniture Design)
• DIGITAL ARTS (Graphic Design, Digital Photography, Digital Music, Digital Story Telling)
• PERFORMING ARTS (Spoken Word, Dance, Music, Theater)
• VISUAL ARTS (Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Pastel)
Youth will participate in the appropriate age group below:
• Ages 6-9
• Ages 10-12
• Ages 13-15
•Ages 16-18
Timeline
Now through Jan 12, 2024: Clubhouse members may begin their art projects. The deadline for Clubhouse members to submit their art to their program director is Friday, Jan 12, 2024.

Month of Feb: art is on display at Clubhouses across the state
The prize
The winners in each category will be recognized statewide through Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska social media, website, and newsletters. The overall winner will have their art featured on the Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska 2024 thank you cards, and their artist profile will be featured on the back of the card and receive a gift card.
